A beautiful Claddagh wedding ring.
There are a variety of Irish Wedding Rings like the beautiful Spiral, the awesome Triskeles, Shield Knots, the breathtaking Triqueta and the glamorous Sun Symbols. The most renowned amongst all Irish wedding rings is the Irish Claddagh, its popularity is associated with a romantic legend.
The Claddagh is said to be sold most in Ireland. The ring is a symbol of three important aspects of life love, loyalty and friendship. The name of the ring has been taken from an Irish village and the design consists of two hands folded over a heart and having a crown at the top of it. The hand symbolizes friendship, love is represented by the heart and the crown displays loyalty.
These Irish wedding rings are worn on different fingers for different purposes. As a symbol of marriage it is worn of the finger of the left hand which connects the heart to the wrist. If the person is engaged he or she wears the ring on the finger of the right hand connecting heart to the wrist inward. And if friends are wearing it they wear it on the outward right hand.
Claddagh are the only Irish wedding rings that are originated from a legend. The legends starts with Richard Joyce a fisherman, him and his crew members were captivated by pirates a few days before Joyce marriage. They sold him a goldsmith into slavery through Algeirs. The goldsmith taught him about goldsmith craft, soon he became a master in it. He made the ring and named it Claddagh after his beloved.
King Georges III In 1698, passed the order of freeing all slaves, Richard Joyce master granted him freedom and offered him his daughters hand in marriage along with half of his wealth. Joyce refused and took a journey back home, where he learned his beloved was still waiting for him. He presented her the ring Claddagh that he had named after her and they got married.
This ring even today holds most value amongst all Irish wedding rings. Though today the design has been made better by adding jewels in it but the the basics of the design even to this stay the same. The ring is found in silver, titanium, gold, white gold with gemstones, diamonds and many other kinds of stones studded in it.
